The Mudumalai forest and wildlife sanctuary is one of the richest habitats of flora and fauna in South India.  It is divided into five ranges namely Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota and each range has its own unique features. Masinagudi, located near the Mysore-Ooty highway, is the most explored tourist destination of all the five ranges due to its location and approachability. Deriving its name from the famous Masani Ammam temple located in the hilly terrains of the city, Masinagudi is an easy and attractive choice for those looking for a wildlife themed getaway. Apart from a beautiful rendezvous with wildlife, one can also visit one of the many tourist spots located nearby, as well as the resorts of Discovery Village, making it a very holistic diversion from the busy life of the city.

Located on Mysore road, a small diversion leads to this old and historic Krishna temple situated on top of a hill. All through the year, the region is covered by mist and the view from the hill top is breathtaking. As the hill overlooks the Bandipur national park, several tourists are lucky enough to sight some animals from above. It is very common for travellers to plan the trip in such a way that after a visit to the two national parks, Mudumalai and Bandipur, a visit to the betta is scheduled on the way back.
